Where tomorrow is taking shape today

In Kista, the future doesn’t wait politely in the distance. It’s already here, unfolding every day. You see it when someone pitches a new idea while queuing for lunch, when another tests the next big thing in a world-class lab. You see it when an old office block transforms into modern homes, or when a square fills with cafés, green areas and spontaneous meet-ups. Kista is evolving in small moments and big strokes, as an entirely new district comes to life.

Where people and ideas grow

Kista is one of Sweden’s most research-intensive hubs, with leading labs, testbeds and institutes. Here, bright minds are shaping technologies that matter, in areas such as semiconductors, AI, cybersecurity and defence technology.

But as the boundaries are being pushed in the labs, Kista itself is evolving into a vibrant neighbourhood with thousands of new homes, schools, parks and meeting places.

From offices to neighbourhoods

The transformation is visible across multiple places in the area. Take the old GSM fortress, for example. The old office block is transforming into Kista Square Garden with nearly 1,000 new homes. In Kista Äng, another 1,600 homes are underway, along with squares, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and green spaces.

As if that wasn’t enough, the former office block Volt is turning into a real neighbourhood, while just down Oddegatan, two new residential blocks are taking shape.

What was once a nine-to-five landscape is becoming a place that hums with life around the clock.

Greener spaces, more meeting places

Shared spaces are changing too. Jan Stenbeck’s Square, which is already considered a busy spot, is now filled with culture, art and events to also make it a nice place to connect with others or take time for yourself. At the same time, Grönlandsparken is being upgraded into a central green oasis with new seating areas.

A new rhythm of life

Development here isn’t just about housing and parks – it’s about everyday life. Here, you can visit the new Voco Hotel in Borgarfjord, and enjoy its restaurant, pool and spa. And when it’s time to get back in business, A:place around the corner offers a workspace with a twist: more like a second living room, complete with café, gym and an orangery.

More roads lead to Kista

Kista has always been easy to reach – with the metro, commuter trains and the E4 close by. But soon, it will be even smoother. The new rail will connect Kista to Bromma, Ursvik and Helenelund, in just a few minutes. A few extra stops, and suddenly the rest of Stockholm feels that much closer.

Welcome to the vibrant neighbourhood

Here, everyday life and innovation are good neighbours. New homes, parks and meeting places are rising alongside labs, institutes and tech companies – and you can already see the changes.

Kista is a place to discover, live in, and grow with. Come for lunch, stay for the community. Or set up your business in a neighbourhood where ideas never sit still. Whether you’re inventing your next idea, want to meet like-minded people or have a nice work-life balance, you’ll find room here.
